Last night I was going through a huge storage tote full of pictures (so just as a warning there will be several post coming soon on some of them I found). Today though it is all about Bo.
When Bryan and I first moved in together we talked about getting a dog. I told him I want a chocolate lab (we had always had black labs at my house growing up). In February of 2003 B comes home late one afternoon from working out of town. He told me he had a surprise for me to close my eyes and hold out my hands. Imagine my surprise when I open them and their is a puppy. Not a little chocolate lab but a tiny white pit with a brown patch over his eye (he really did look like sparky when he was little). The second I saw him though I was in love.
Sorry these really aren't all in order but you get the idea.
Also if you randomly see Roo that is my nickname for him.
If Bryan was around he was going to lay on him.
Of course I also have to show this as far as tearing stuff up this was the worst day. I had gone to work and when I came home this was all over the living room. A pillow, papers, electrical cord and part of the back of the recliner and other random items.
Has to be close to his daddy.
Bo and Shadow just relaxing.
Bo and Sandy napping the day away.
Bo loves his pillows. Still does he has his bed then his pillow for his head he really thinks he is just a little boy.
Silly Roo
My sweet baby.
He never thinks he is to big to sit on Daddy's lap.
Out of town trip visiting friends.
At a birthday party.
The cool dude.
Of course Bo gives Bryan Happy Birthday Daddy cards with dogs on them.
I gave him a card he can at least share his breakfast. :)
This was BoBo's first camping trip(well somewhat camping it was at the beach) he absolutely loved it. This dog loves to go swimming.
Always by Bryan's side.
Let me out so I can come back in and do it all over again.
Bo is also kind of a little dare devil (like Bryan) he used to go with Bryan to work some. Well one day while he was impatiently waiting in the back of the truck he decided he wanted to get out. So he just jumped down and sliced himself on the metal sheeting that was on the trailer behind the truck. Poor thing not only barely missed taking his eye out but sliced his leg TO THE BONE. Needless to say he spent several days at the vet.
You can just see how much B loves this dog.
Unfortunately when Bryan had his accident (maybe I will do a post one day on that) we had to move out of town to stay with his parents to be closer to the specialist he needed. They took down their dining room and set up his hospital bed. Needless to say Bo couldn't come with us. So from April until we were able to move back in August a great friend of Bryan's took Bo for us. I got to see Bo a few times still when I went home to visit my family but Bryan couldn't. So he brought him with him when he came for a visit.
This was not an easy time at all for any of us. We had always had Bo with one of us almost 24 hours a day when he was little he even went out of town a few times with Bryan when he was working and man we were missing our baby.
There are so many more pictures I still have not gone through but here are a few more.
If you have been reading along you have heard me mention Bryan and I don't have children (not by choice we have not been able to maybe one day I will do an entire post on it but it's a very emotional topic with me sometimes) so Bo is my baby. I would be lost without him. He has been there for me through many very hard times cuddled with me when I cried and make me laugh while he plays.
A over two years ago Bo had his first (of several) surgeries to remove tumors. I can't begin to say how worried we were each time another has come up or how thankful we are to have him still here.
A little over six moths a go now we were told we needed to put him down. He had a tumor on his head that started as a small bump it actually looked like he had hit it on something. The tumor grew very rapidly and broke through the skin. We of course went to a different vet because I just could not put my baby down. He removed his tumor but also had to take most of his ear.
This was about a month ago I drove up and Bo was there waiting with his "stick". I just had to laugh and of course grab my phone to take a picture. Now one thing about him even when he was still little if you pick up a stick and throw it he will go get it. If you say Bo go get a stick he goes and gets a 2x4 (he has done this since he was less than a year old). Silly Roo.
Since we had to hide the 2x4s since he would think they were also so chew toys he found this huge thing.
Okay I'm ready to play.
I love you BoBo and would not trade one moment with a million chocolate labs that I wanted so long ago. I am thankful every single day that you are still here fighting all the odds. You are and always will be Mamas sweet baby.
Wow, what a touching story! Our pets are definitely our children, aren't they? And he seems to have beaten the odds so many times.
